This is an uncommon vocal disorder characterized by difficulty speaking. Literally it feels and sounds like your voice is being “choked.” I developed this disorder slowly as an adult, over a number of years, as is quite common. When I was diagnosed, there was little that the medical community could suggest besides Botox injections or surgery. It is considered by many as one of those disorders that is “incurable.” I had sufficient awareness of my own inner life along with psychological skills, and have experienced a tremendous amount of healing personally. I support a multi-modal approach for individuals seeking relief. Note: I do not provide any medical treatment. I educate people in skills for working with the psychological/self-expression aspects of this disorder.
